Walking Tour
The perfect place to start your walk around the most intact walls of any English city. Combine your visit to the City Walls Experience at Micklegate Bar with a guided tour of a section of the walls, available from February to October, to complete your visit.
Join York Archaeology for a tour of the city walls between Micklegate Bar and Baile Hill, highlighting some of the sites of archaeological and historical importance along this stretch of wall and in the Clementhorpe and Bishophill areas.
Please note: this section of the walls includes unguarded drops, so we advise that care is taken by walkers at all times.
The walk aims to cover approximately 1.5km (lasting no longer than 1 hour).
This event is outdoors, so please wear sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing appropriate to the weather on the day. The walk will last approximately 1 hour. This walk includes some road crossings, steps, and uneven surfaces. Although this event is not accessible to wheelchair users due to the nature of the city walls, we offer an accessible alternative; please call our Reservations Team (01904 615505) for more information and to book.
