The fashions of a Georgian Lady
The fashions of a Georgian Lady: From laundry maid to palace attire.
Join Rachel Hogue, a Master’s student from the Centre of Eighteenth Studies, for an evening exploring the dress and fashions of Georgian women.
Having worked as a live interpreter at Colonial Williamsburg, Rachel will discuss the ever-changing fashions of the century and the social, political influences and trends that helped to shape women’s clothing whilst offering a live demonstration of dressing a ‘Georgian lady’ from the basic undergarments through to the top gown.
The evening will have a particular focus on women’s fashions from the 1770’s through to 1815.
At the conclusion of the demonstration, there will be a Q&A session with a particular focus on 18th Century fashion, women’s clothing and many more subjects of interest. Guests will also be given the opportunity to engage with Rachel and the clothing at the end of the event.
This event provides an exclusive opportunity to guests, offering the chance to engage with specialists in the subject area who are providing bespoke demonstrations for York Archaeology.
