Kids Dig Derventio
CBA FESTIVAL OF ARCHAEOLOGY FAMILY WEEKEND
We Dig Derventio presents... Kids Dig Derventio!
Over the weekend of 1st - 2nd August 2026, families can book onto free 1-hour long slots and they will have the chance to experience a number of site tasks, such as excavation, soil sieving, finds washing and drawing. We will be looking for any artefacts dating from the Roman times, learning more about archaeology, and having fun in the process!
The experience is for 3 years plus. 3-16 year olds must be booked on with a participating adult who will be supervising them at all times. The maximum ratio is one adult to two children.
Saturday 1st August – 10.30-11.30am, 11.45-12.45pm, 1.15-2.15pm, and 2.30-3.30pm
Sunday 2nd August – 1-2pm, 2.30-3.30pm
Venue: Darley Playing Fields, Old Chester Road, Derby, DE1 3SA.
Excavation is not suitable for wheelchair users but site can be visited as it is accessed by a ramp onto the fields.
