Training Excavation 2025
Following the remarkable success of the 2024 dig, we are delighted to return to the School Green site in central York for a second season. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience of complex, deeply stratified urban archaeology, and learn all of the key skills of archaeological fieldwork. You will work alongside experienced professional archaeologists to uncover evidence of over two millennia of human activity. Specialist sessions will offer introductions to skills such as survey, finds identification, and stratigraphic analysis. All tickets come with a complimentary pass to York Archaeology visitor attractions, Barley Hall, DIG, and the JORVIK Viking Centre.
